  • About the Edition

When Maximillian Wilder hides his noble identity and joins the notorious body snatchers known as the London Supply Company, the last thing on his mind is love. He"s worried about Madeline, his vanished half sister, who was last seen in the company of Jack Hurtsill, the gang"s conscienceless leader. Raiding graveyard, stealing corpses, and selling them to medical colleges as dissection material is dirty work, but Max knows he must gain Jack"s trust. He"s determined to find out what happened to Madeline--and to bring Jack to justice if she was murdered for the coin her body could earn. Beautiful, spirited Abigail Hale, daughter of the surgeon at Aldersgate School of Medicine, detests the challenging, hard-bargaining Max almost as much as Jack. But she must procure the necessary specimens if she is to save the college and her father"s career. She believes she is going to be successful--until Jack double-crosses her. Then she"s swept into a plot of danger and intrigue, one where Max must intervene to protect her, no matter the risk to his plan...or his heart.

Furthermore, I kept getting some of the more disagreeable scholars confused as they seemed to share the same personality traits saying hurtful things to others they deemed inferior. Then she's swept into a plot of danger and intrigue, one where Max must intervene to protect her, no matter the risk to his plan…or his heart. And I learned quite a few things while being totally engrossed in this captivating suspense story. When Maximillian Wilder hides his noble identity and joins the notorious body snatchers known as the London Supply Company, the last thing on his mind is love. He's determined to find out what happened to Madeline -- and to bring Jack to justice if she was murdered for the coin her body could earn.

I was quite happy not to have another Matt and Michael tied up in a random room, long villain confession, and last minute save. Abigail is a fabulous female character: strong-willed, independent, fearless, highly intelligent, and unconventional, as much as the restrictions of the era and her sex allow: the 's didn't look that well upon women aspiring to higher learning. He's determined to find out what happened to Madeline - and to bring Jack to justice if she was murdered for the coin her body could earn. There is also the fact that she is a very smart woman with absolutely no live experience so she makes terrible mistakes often and really has very little insight into the real world.

He's determined to find out what happened to Madeline - and to bring Jack to justice if she was murdered for the coin her body could earn. She believes she is going to be successful--until Jack double-crosses her. As sometimes happens in her novels, a person who had seemed quite sane although with inconstant character traits turned out to be anything but. Why can't the characters just figure it out themselves? Max has led a pampered life.

A matter of grave concern book

He's determined to find out what happened to Madeline - and to bring Jack to justice if she was murdered for the coin her body could earn. Raiding graveyards, stealing corpses, and selling them to medical colleges as dissection material is dirty work, but Max knows he must gain Jack's trust.

Abigail manages to get in the house where the body snatchers from The London Supply Company hole up. She was so lonely and desperate for any kind of attention it was a little sad.

This book has so much action and mystery that you are caught up in every page. He's determined to find out what happened to Madeline -- and to bring Jack to justice if she was murdered for the coin her body could earn. Raiding graveyards, stealing corpses, and selling them to medical colleges as dissection material is dirty work, but Max knows he must gain Jack's trust.

Jack and the gang were despicable. There is also the fact that she is a very smart woman with absolutely no live experience so she makes terrible mistakes often and really has very little insight into the real world. I don't think I want to sit through another jumbled account of Matt fumbling his way through a mystery with a fat monk just to have you not have him marry her.

She believes she is going to be successful--until Jack double-crosses her. Max has led a pampered life. When Maximillian Wilder hides his noble identity and joins the notorious body snatchers known Book "A Matter of Grave Concern" Brenda Novak in web, epub ready for read and download!.

Only she gets in trouble with a gang who steals her entire purse and the last gift her mother gives her. When Maximillian Wilder hides his noble identity and joins the notorious body snatchers known as the London Supply Company, the last thing on his mind is love.

You see, our hero, Max, is really a member of the nobility disguising himself in the resurrectionist gang to find his half-sister Madeline.

What do you think about this review? Abby and Max both had character flaws that added to the believability of their characters. Beautiful, spirited Abigail Hale, daughter of the surgeon at Aldersgate School of Medicine, detests the challenging, hard-bargaining Max almost as much as Jack.

There were no interesting female characters at all. Instead we get Matt and the Sheriff tied up, badly, and several villain confessions.

She decides to follow after them and steal her money back since that purse contained the funds the college needed to keep going for the next few months. Novak and turned into a supremely entertaining and clever story. The premise for the story, is to say the least highly original, and the meticulous research done by Ms.

Her father's medical college is suffering at the shortage of bodies to dissect so she arranges to buy some under the table. The reason for her leaving has become jumbled and contradictory.

A Matter of Grave Concern

I want to feel like both characters get off and in two scenes it is clear what Max did for Abby but then really glossed over the Abby to Max part. Possible spoilers: I have not read another novel in this series that had so many pieces of evidence that turned out to be downright lies.

One evening however, things go awry: when she is about to pay the resurrectionists, they instead steal the money she keeps for the maintenance of the college as well as the ivory elephant her dead mother left her.

Noting the continued lowA Matter of Grave Concern though entertained me on both levels.

A Matter of Grave Concern, by Brenda Novak

The story starts with Abigail trying to buy a dead body. What woman does this? A woman whose father is her world and only parent. A woman who grew up at the Royal College of Surgeons where her father was head surgeon. A woman who desperately wants to follow in her father's /5(3).
